Marker Training: The Fundamentals of Good Communication!

Marker training uses words or sounds to communicate or signal to the dog that he is doing something correctly or incorrectly. The words or sounds mark a specific moment in time when the dog performs an action or behavior. It’s feedback for the dog in its simplest form. Verbal marker words clear up and improve communication in training and streamline the training process. We use classical conditioning to teach marker words. March Books in Review

Happy Easter, everyone! This month I read one new book and re-read five old books. When it Comes to Come

Awhile back I shared a video on Instagram where I was in the sheep pen with Havok, and I gave the command to go herd the sheep. Mid-run, I said “Havok, Come” and he stopped on a dime and came back to me. He had an e-collar on, and I rewarded him for coming with a ball on string. There’s a noticeable difference between puppies who come from run-of-the-mill backyard breeders or puppy mills as compared to puppies from quality, reputable breeders. To make things easier for you, we’ve compiled a list of recommended breeders. These breeders......

Congratulations on your new puppy! Adopting a puppy is always very fun and exciting. Here’s a list of what you’ll need to buy for your furry kid: Crate When it comes to a crate, you’ll need to find out what size your puppy is going to be when you pick him up. The problem most pet owners make is that they purchase a crate that’s too big for the puppy, and it makes house breaking difficult. You need a crate that allows your puppy to stand up, sit and lay down comfortably, but isn’t......
