Asking questions is expected by reputable breeders. A responsible breeder will also have plenty of questions for you to ensure a good match.
Good breeders:

Health test all their dogs (hips, elbows, eyes, heart, etc.)

Provide proof of testing and allow visits before deposit

Socialize and temperament-test puppies for proper placement
