Valor K9 Academy was founded in 2014 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A second location in Spokane was opened in 2015, and a third location in Boise was opened in 2019. Valor K9 Academy was named the Idaho Small Business of the Month in March of 2022.

Here at Valor K9 Academy, we work with dogs of all ages, needs, and breeds. All dogs are welcome. We specialize in puppy training, family dog obedience, and service dogs.

We are a home-based business and are in the process of building a training facility at our Boise location. It will host group classes, workshops, seminars, trainers retreats, and shadow programs in the future.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Dog Trainer to join our team. As a Dog Trainer, you will be responsible for providing obedience training, behavior modification, and socialization to dogs of all breeds and sizes. Your expertise in dog handling and training will help pet owners develop a strong bond with their furry companions. This job is for an independent contractor who would primarily work from their home. You must be able to have dogs stay with you in your home. Lessons are conducted at clients home, your home and public places.

Duties:

– Conduct individual and group training sessions to address specific behavioral issues and teach basic obedience commands

– Assess the temperament and behavior of dogs to create personalized training plans

– Utilize the Valor K9 Method™ of dog training to encourage desired behaviors and discourage unwanted behaviors

– Teach dogs proper leash walking, recall, sit, stay, down, and other essential commands

– Provide guidance and support to pet owners on effective training methods and strategies

– Monitor the progress of each dog’s training program and make necessary adjustments as needed

– Maintain accurate records of each dog’s training history and behavior assessments

– Ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs during training sessions

Requirements:

– Be able to work from home and have multiple dogs stay with you.

Experience:

– No prior experience as a dog trainer necessary

– Knowledge of dog behavior, breed characteristics, and learning theory

– Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments with confidence and patience

– Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners

– Experience in pet grooming, animal care, veterinary assistance, or kennel operations is a plus

– Physical stamina for handling dogs during training sessions and heavy lifting if required

Pay: $70,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
